Old Berkshire Ale (4.3)

A guest beer from West Berkshire Brewery that promises a good mix of hops and malt with a hint of sweetness.

Newmans Red Stag Bitter (3.6).

Becoming an old favourite in the Club. This is a well balanced amber-red coloured, dry bitter with fruity, slightly spicy and citrus notes.

Vale Inklings 4.3

Pale, chocolate and crystal Maris Otter malts combine with a variety of hops to produce a rich smooth mahogany coloured ale with a bitter finish.

Ringwood Fortyniner (4.9)

First time in the Club, Fortyniner is a golden, full bodied malty beer with a deep bitter sweet finish.

Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger (5.0)

A popular and strong ale from this well known brewery. The dominant character of this premium ale is its generous fruity flavour, reminiscent of bananas and pears with citrus overtones. A full-bodied nut-brown, nourishing ale with a lingering hoppy finish.

Middle of the month

Nethergate Barfly Special (3.9)

A seasonal ale from this popular and successful Suffolk brewer. A fruity berst bitte, sturdy in bitterness and with a subtle floral aroma of Alsace hops.

Vale Ninkasi (4.0)

Special ale for March. This beer is crafted with Pale and Crystal Maris Otter malts then a combination of Northdown and Centennial hops. This produces a satisfying deep bronze coloured bitter with a rounded floral finish.

Best Mates Brewery

We are pleased to introduce ales from the Best Mates Brewery, on the Lockinge Estate in Ardington, Oxfordshire. This local 5 barrel plant is capable of brewing 32 casks of beer a week. All the beer is brewed using local bore hole water from the Lockinge Estate. This is what gives Best Mates beer its unique flavour and true rural taste. We are offering two of their ales:-

Scutchammers Knob (3.6)

Based on an old English recipe, this oaky – coloured beer is blended with three types of hops to give a rich and full taste with a slight hint of burnt malt on the palate.

Alfies (4.4)

Named after King Alfred who was born just a stone’s throw from the brewery at Ardington, this golden beer is well hopped with a bursting twist of spice.

End of the month

We are pleased to be able to offer three ales from the award-winning Purple Moose brewery in Porthmadog, North Wales.

Snowdonia Ale (3.6)

CAMRA Champion Beer of Wales 2009. A delightfully refreshing pale ale brewed with Pale and Crystal malts combined with a delicate combination of hops.

Madogs Ale (3.7)

Finalist Champion Beer of Britain 2007. A crisp, malty reddish colour session bitter with a dry bitter finish.

Glaslyn Ale (4.2)

Winner of the Best Bitters category at the Champion Beer of Britain competition in 2007. A golden coloured fruity best bitter with a well balanced hoppy finish.

If you have been in the club recently you may have noticed the A5 Entertainment Handouts. Currently listing the Entertainments over Christmas (Christmas Eve Disco), New Years (New Years Eve Disco) and the rest of January 2010. You will see that January has Bingo and  Meat draws  every Friday,  the monthly Cribbage sessions and a whole host of exclusive sports matches that will be shown on the large LCD screens on Saturdays, now the club has ESPN via SKY….

The club did have a live band booked for January, unfortunately the band had to cancel, however, we have live bands booked for February and March. Hopefully over the next few months the clubs entertainments profile can be raised (could do with more volunteers!).

These handouts will be issued every month, they will be made available in the club, posted online and emailed to members that have successfully signed up to our email list.

Some Bottle Draw Evening Photos…

Boxing Day Afternoon  will be the Boxing Day Draw which raises money for Helen and Douglas House a local hospice for terminally ill children. As with lasts years draw, we have a range of prizes donated from local businesses in the Goring and Streatley area.
