Main Ales to change at Goring Social Club
Main Ales to Change at Goring Social Club
The Bar Committee has noted that the sales of our two regular ales have started to decline as ‘guest’ ale sales have soared. The decision has therefore, been taken to introduce two new ales into the Club from the beginning of November, and they will be available for the next 5 months or so, when again, their sales will be reviewed.
We are pleased to announce that the
Two New Ales
will be….
West Berkshire Brewery ‘Old Father Thames (3.4)
A low gravity beer retaining a full-bodied flavour for its strength and brewed with locally grown malted barley and hops.
Replacement for Vale Best Bitter. This beer has been very popular as a guest ale in the Club and we hope it will continue to sell well as a permanent addition to our ales’ offer.
Butcombe Bitter (4.0)

A notably bitter beer – amber in colour, clean tasting and refreshingly dry and distinctive. It is made with 100% English malts together with a blend of traditional English hop varieties.
Replacement for Wadworth 6X. Butcombe has always been a very popular beer in the Club and should sell well.
Effects on the ‘Guest’ ales?
Given that the ABV of Butcombe is only 4%, it will now be possible to change the range of guest ales offered in the Club to include more strong ales. The guest pump from early November will, therefore, include ales in the 3.7% – 5.0% strength range so there should be something for everybody!
This new package of draught ales probably represents the best choice of quality real ales in the local area.
Enjoy!
