Reading and District Snooker League Presentation Night
Goring B snooker team, based at Goring Social Club, had a fantastic time celebrating their promotion at the recent Reading and District Snooker League Presentation night. The evening was a culmination of a highly successful season which has seen the team secure promotion following excellent contributions throughout the campaign from all members of the team. The presence of one of the greatest ever snooker icons, Jimmy White, made the occasion an even more memorable one. Not only did Jimmy present the guys with their trophies, but captain Jonny Russell was also successful in bidding in an auction to play Jimmy and therefore had the experience of playing a frame against his all-time sporting hero. In a very credible performance, Jonny scored 28 points which unfortunately was not enough to defeat Jimmy who effortlessly knocked in a 70+ break to clinch the frame. The team are now looking forward to the challenges that await them in Division 2 in the upcoming season.
