January 2009 Beers

January 2009 Beers
Happy New Year to you all – the Club Committee hope you all had a good Xmas!
Now that the Festive season is over we have the opportunity to return to regular drinking patterns. The guest ales offered this month allow you to do just that. All of them have been chosen for easy drinking from some well known suppliers. We have one firkin on order for all of these ales.
Vale Best Bitter (3.7)

A light copper-coloured bitter which is heavily hopped with traditional varieties. The result is a thirst quenching beer with a pronounced and pleasant floral hop aroma. We first had this ale in during 2007 and it sold very well. So get in and try it – should be available from the 8th January at £2.00 a pint
Vale Wychert Ale (3.9)

An auburn coloured traditional Thames Valley ale. Excellent flavours are present in this strikingly malty beer. Has a finish of fruit and nut on the palate. The second time this ale has been presented in the Club. It went down very well in 2008 and is available at £2.10 a pint from 8th January.
Bateman’s Jester’s IPA (3.5)

Became a favourite in 2008 and sold out very quickly. A light but full bodied mid-brown bitter which is well hopped and easily quaffed! Available from 16th January at £2.00 a pint. Make sure you get to try it – it won’t be around for long!
Brains Bitter (3.7)

A very good bitter from the Cardiff brewer, their Xmas special – ‘Party Popper’ again at 3.7%, disappeared virtually overnight in December!! The bitter is brewed with malt and Fuggles and Golding hops using Brains own yeast strain and is a golden colour. Will be available from 23rd January selling at £2.00 a pint.
Skinners Best Bitter (3.6)

A popular beer from one of your favourite West Country brewers. This superb golden session ale is brewed with a good balance of Slovenian and English hops. The result is a beer with a wonderfully fruity and zesty flavour with a smooth bitter finish. Available from 23rd January at £2.00 a pint.
Hook Norton Old Hooky (4.6)

It’s good to be able to get this strong old favourite back into the Club at a reasonable price. A beautifully balanced beer, fruity by nature with a well rounded body and an echo of crystal malt. Tuck in and enjoy at £2.30 a pint. Available towards the end of the month.
According to sales, we may, additionally, provide Wadworth Henry’s IPA at the end of the month.
Bottle range
For those of you either wanting a pleasant nightcap or just an excellent strong ale we are pleased to announce that Greene King’s Old Speckled Hen (5.2%) is now available at £2.80 for a 500ml bottle.
