December and Christmas Ales

For the Festive season we have bought in some special seasonal beers to titillate your palates, and added them to some regional and local favourites.

Archers Village (3.6)

A well balanced light amber coloured beer which is an easy drinking session ale. Always sells well at GSC. It should be available from Monday December 8th. Only one firkin so don’t miss out!

Theakston Best Bitter (3.8)

A newcomer to the Club, this golden brown ale provides a good bittersweet balance with a robust hop character of citrus and spice. A refreshing and very satisfying pint, it should be available from Friday December 12th. We have one 11 gallon barrel for you to enjoy.

Brains of Cardiff. Party Popper (3.7)

This, the first of our festive ales, should be available mid month. A traditional ale has a rich, malty nutty flavour that is complemented by the addition of Fuggles and Goldings hops to give a light, spicy hop character. It is brown in colour and is perfect for any festive occasion. Only one firkin available.

Moorhouse’s Daze 2 Go (3.5)

This mid brown ale delivers a crisp fruit flavour, satisfying biscuit aroma, and with slightly more bitterness than you would expect from a Moorhouse beer. This should be a good one and will be available from around the 20th December. Be quick because we only have one firkin of it!

Shepherd Neame Tins’ale (3.7)

A clean, dry, refreshing ale having a touch of sweetness, but displaying an assertive and vibrant hop taste, with a lingering bitter finish. Mid brown in colour, this should be an excellent ale to dip into at Xmas. Enjoy.

Hidden Brewery Pint (3.8)

Hidden ales are now becoming very popular beers in GSC. The ‘Pint’ is a clean tasting, tangy bitter, with a citrus-fruit malt balance and good hop content. Mid brown in colour, Hidden Pint has a light hop aroma and a dry finish. It should be available just after Xmas.

Hidden Old Sarum (4.1)

No stranger to GSC, this is a traditional, well balanced, dark ruby coloured beer with a complex malt and hop combination. Old Sarum was one of the first Hidden brewery ales and has a loyal following everywhere it is sold. With a floral, spicy aroma, Old Sarum is full of flavour and has a dry bitterness.

West Berkshire Good Old Boy. (4.0)

This ale provides a good balance of malt and hops which gives a full-bodied bitter with strong malt flavours. The ale retains a rounded bitterness and a strong hop finish. Always a favourite at GSC, the ale should be available from the end of the month.

West Berkshire Old Father Thames (3.4)

This excellent low-gravity beer is just what you need to nurse you into the New Year! The ale maintains a full bodied flavour and is brewed with locally grown hops and barley.

So there is the list folks. Most of these ales are relatively low-gravity session ales with lots of taste and flavour. Get down to the Club and try a few of them!

Happy Drinking and a very Happy Christmas to you all!!
